Per Florida Statutes (FS 102.014), poll workers are required to complete training prior to each election.
St. Johns County poll workers are required to complete online training before attending an in-person hands-on training. Training is specialized based on the position you are assigned.
Interested poll workers are also required to attend an initial Poll Worker Orientation before being offered the opportunity to complete training.

The Clerk is responsible for managing the precinct. This position is familiar with all tasks required to process voters and obtain election results, as well as completing pre- and post-election reconciliation paperwork. The Clerk must demonstrate working knowledge of the laws and procedures related to voting system operation, ballot distribution, and polling place procedures. The Clerk is ultimately responsible for the performance of the early voting site and/or Election Day precinct polling location.
This position requires previous poll worker experience in St. Johns County.
Election Day Pay Rate - $360/day
Early Voting Pay Rate - $18.00/hour
The Assistant Clerk is trained in all aspects of voter processing and assists the Clerk in opening and closing procedures, as well as pre- and post-election reconciliation paperwork. The Assistant Clerk is authorized to supervise in the Clerk’s absence, if required.
Election Day Pay Rate - $300/day
Early Voting Pay Rate - $16.50/hour
Equipment Inspectors set up, maintain, and monitor voting equipment, process voters, and assist voters on the voting equipment as needed.
Election Day Pay Rate - $275/day
Early Voting Pay Rate - $15.00/hour
The Poll Deputy monitors and enforces a “No Solicitation Zone” and maintains order at voting locations. This position requires an additional background check that the other positions do not require. Poll Deputies are deputized by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Election Day Pay Rate - $275/day
Early Voting Pay Rate - $15.00/hour
